T & J Auto Body celebrated a milestone anniversary in March 2013 after doing business for a quarter of a century in Ludlow. The Hubbard Street shop has developed a positive reputation among members of the community, and co-owner Robert Terzi says his family is grateful for the continuous customer loyalty shown over the last two decades.
"There is genuine feeling when people come in," he said, "We like to get to know the customers that come to our shop. It's those people that continue to support us." That community support began 25 years ago when Terzi's father, Robert Terzi, Sr., and his wife, Louise, opened T & J Auto Body. "It was always my dad's dream to have his own business," said Terzi, pointing out that his dad has more than 60 years of experience in the trade. "His accreditations are many. He's licensed with all car manufacturers and many different paint systems," he added.
Over the years, the auto body shop has grown to become a family effort with friends helping out, especially after Terzi's father underwent hip surgery. Robert Terzi, Jr., his wife, Aileen, and brother, Joe, all stepped in to help run the family business in 2005. While Robert Terzi oversees the business office and daily activities, brother Joe Terzi does the auto body work, framework, and welding services. Their dad continues to work as an expert consultant for the family business. Also delivering services at T & J Auto Body is Jim Moquin, probably one of the best painters in New England," added Terzi.
In addition to collision repair, the shop also offers paintless dent repair, framework, front-end work, buffing, waxing, and auto detailing. "We've got a really good relationship with the community and the people here. So many people in this town have been good to us," said Terzi. T & J Auto Body likes to show their appreciation by giving back to the community when they can, getting involved in local charities, such a sponsoring local golf events and making donations. Joe Terzi also enjoys being a member of the Elks Club.
Terzi said the reason the family business has been successful for the past 25 years is "because we deal with each person individually. We want everybody to come in here and feel like they're a part of the process, from the start of repairs until the time the customer picks the car up. I think we're successful at making people feel comfortable when they come in here," Terzi explained.
The Terzis also pride themselves in service work that is done extremely well. The customer service has spread by word of mouth throughout Ludlow and surrounding communities. "We've been here for 25 years. It is very easy to drive by our shop and see us. People keep us busy," he said. Staying busy and "doing what we can help the community are the family's goals for the next 25 years in business," said Terzi. "We'd like people to know we appreciate everything they do," he said.
